A Facebook Case Study
Starling Bank is a London-based digital challenger bank that offers a mobile-only current account. To launch and grow adoption of its new bank account, Starling needed to reach new audiences, increase account openings, and lower customer acquisition costs.
Starling installed the Facebook SDK, added Instagram, and used Custom and Lookalike Audiences to target and exclude existing users while optimizing ad creative (finding video ads outperformed photos). The approach drove a 36% drop in cost per app install (mid‑August to mid‑September 2017), with Facebook and Instagram accounting for 44% of paid account opens in November 2017 and 32% of leads from Facebook converting to accounts.
