Increasing app installs with mobile app ads on Facebook

Hutch is an interior design media and m-commerce company that lets users apply filters to photos of their rooms to instantly design spaces. The team’s challenge was to reach more people, drive app installs and regular use, and leverage that audience to test and improve app features.

Hutch partnered with 565 Media to test a mix of mobile app install ads across Facebook and Instagram (link, carousel, slideshow, video and Stories), using in-app creative and mobile-only optimization plus targeted Core, Custom and Lookalike audiences. The campaign cut cost per install by 49%, achieved an 81% conversion rate to account creation, and drove a 10X increase in installs in May (vs. April) and a 4X increase in June (vs. May), while yielding actionable product feedback that improved the app.
