Hitwe is a social discovery app launched in December 2015 that connects people across emerging markets in Asia and Africa. Faced with the challenge of rapidly scaling installs and tailoring marketing to diverse cultural and behavioural groups across 50+ countries, Hitwe needed a way to reach large, relevant audiences while keeping acquisition costs low.
By running up to 300 active Facebook and Instagram campaigns and using Audience Insights, Custom and Lookalike Audiences, and a mix of video and carousel creatives, Hitwe continuously tested and optimised locally relevant ads. The approach delivered over 3 million downloads in the first four months, a 33% reduction in cost per install, a 27% uplift in eCPM on Audience Network, top-10 app rankings in 50+ countries, and strong engagement from video and daily posts.
