A Facebook Case Study
HEMA, a Dutch retail chain founded in 1926 with more than 500 stores, wanted to extend the reach of its Christmas TV advert and get closer to customers by sparking a conversation about what the festive season means. The goal was to deepen audience engagement, gather customer insights and drive online sales by complementing TV with social activity.
HEMA repurposed the TV spot into targeted Facebook video ads and posts that invited viewers to share their Christmas traditions, then used the Facebook pixel to retarget engaged viewers and track conversions. Over the three‑week campaign they logged over 1 million video views, reached 1.2 million people, drove more than 160,000 retargeting conversions and achieved a 3× increase in Facebook‑generated revenue in Q4 2015.
