HelloMarket is a Korean online marketplace and mobile app where people buy and sell everything from cars to handmade goods. As a growth-stage startup it needed to drive app installs and registrations while also building brand awareness, with the core challenge of keeping cost per install low.
HelloMarket ran video ads (using clips from its TV spots) to boost awareness and used carousel ads in the mobile feed that linked directly to the app install page, showcasing multiple products. Campaigns were personalized with Custom Audiences (e.g., parents, fashion/shopping interests) and Lookalike Audiences. From Dec 2015–May 2016 the approach delivered a 30% lower cost per install, a 25% higher conversion rate versus other channels, one million video views in one week, and a 32% lower cost per view.
