A Facebook Case Study
GM99, a Taiwanese online gaming community, launched its new fantasy title Genesis in September 2016 and needed to build excitement and a quality user base so the game would be played immediately at launch and rank in the top 10 on Google and Apple app stores.
Using a mix of Facebook ad products, GM99 ran a pre-launch awareness push with photo, video, carousel, link and lead ads, then targeted hardcore gamers after launch with reach-and-frequency video ads, Custom Audiences, lookalikes and retargeted mobile app install and engagement ads personalized to each player. The campaign delivered a 3.5X return on ad spend in 10 days, 3.9X in one month, and an 11-point higher retention rate than other platforms.
