Savings.com — the coupon and deals site that launched the Favado grocery-savings app in 2013 — needed to drive broad awareness, increase mobile installs and retain users beyond its core coupon-community audience. Favado’s challenge was to scale downloads and weekly engagement cost‑effectively while appealing to a wider set of deal-seekers.
Favado used its Facebook Page plus mobile app ads, testing universally appealing savings copy and leveraging a 200,000‑user Custom Audience to create lookalike audiences for broad targeting. Between January–June 2014 the campaign drove over 250,000 installs (including a 40,000‑install spike from a TV mention), delivered a 3× higher conversion rate versus other channels, 2× return on ad spend for growing weekly active users, a 33% conversion rate from ad clicks and a $0.72 cost per install.
