ESL, the world’s largest and oldest international esports organization, wanted to boost ticket sales and attendance for its stadium events while turning local competitions into a global fan experience. To do this, ESL worked with Facebook and its video advertising and targeting tools to build excitement and reach esports audiences around the world.

Facebook helped ESL run video ads, Facebook Live broadcasts, and retargeted highlight content using Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences. The results included Facebook becoming ESL’s top marketing channel for marquee events, an 8X increase in reach and video views, 18.5 million video views in one month, 45% of event audiences filled through Facebook campaigns, and a 2X return on ad spend for ticket sales.
