Chengdu Droidhang, a mobile game developer in Chengdu best known for the popular gacha RPG Idle Heroes, needed to acquire high-value players worldwide who would make in-app purchases — without running separate campaigns for every country. They used Facebook App Event optimisation and mobile app install ads, first targeting a core set of key countries (US, Canada, France, Germany, Korea, Japan, UK, Thailand, Vietnam) and then running a worldwide campaign excluding those markets, optimizing for the “purchase” event. This approach doubled return on ad spend, cut cost per install by 20% and improved 7-day retention by 12%.
