They ran mobile app‑install ads (photo and video) on Facebook and Instagram featuring first‑person in‑game creative, used Audience Insights and Lookalike Audiences to target casual/puzzle/rhythm gamers and music fans (and broadened to under‑34 non‑gamers), and drove installs directly from the News Feed. In four months the campaign delivered 20 million players, #1 free game on the App Store in 146 countries and on Google Play in 87 countries, helped grow to 100 million monthly active users (88% outside China), and made Facebook one of their top three user‑acquisition channels.
