A Facebook Case Study
Canon U.S.A., a leading consumer camera brand, aimed to raise brand awareness and purchase intent by reminding people—especially new parents and young travelers—not to sacrifice photo quality by relying on smartphones for special occasions. Facing a crowded marketplace, Canon needed a targeted, memorable way to reframe cameras as the better choice for meaningful moments.
Canon ran a two-month Facebook "Bring It / Leave It" campaign using boosted posts, video ads, custom segments and retargeting (showing the alternate scenario to viewers), following Facebook video best practices (brand/product early, captions). Measured with a Nielsen Brand Effect study, the campaign delivered an 8-point lift in ad recall, an 8-point lift in purchase intent and a 7-point increase in message association with “Bring It,” while custom targeting cut cost per engagement by 57%.
