CafePress, an e-commerce retailer of custom t‑shirts and unique gifts, wanted to turn social users into brand ambassadors: build a large, engaged Facebook fan base, acquire new customers, and drive incremental sales by encouraging shoppers to share purchases with friends and by reaching fans and their friends with targeted offers.
Working with ShopSocially, CafePress added qualified fans with a Get‑a‑Fan app, used a Share‑a‑Purchase app to make buying easy to share, and ran targeted Facebook Ads for a photo‑canvas promotion. The Facebook Page grew from 50,000 to 350,000 fans, fans generated 20–45% higher revenue per session, friend traffic converted at roughly 2X the site average, nearly 10% of buyers shared purchases, and the campaign delivered a 6X return on ad spend and 4X more revenue from Facebook than all other channels combined.
