Food52 is an online community and e-commerce shop for food and home founded by Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs. Facing the challenge of converting more visitors into buyers, the team aimed to retarget people who had viewed products or added items to their baskets to lift their online conversion rate.
They implemented Facebook dynamic ads, using the Facebook pixel on the checkout confirmation page to segment visitors into four audiences (viewed 1–4 days, viewed 5–10 days, added to basket 1–4 days, added 5–10 days) and optimized for conversions. Ads pulled product images and copy from the feed with a “Shop Now” CTA and top-performing taglines; the campaign delivered an 8x return on ad spend, a 10x increase in conversions, and a 75% drop in cost per conversion.
