Barclaycard promoted its NFL Extra Points Credit Card — which offers perks like 20% off NFLShop purchases and exclusive NFL experiences — with the goal of growing its NFL-branded cardmember base and creating an online community for football fans. The challenge was to reach and engage fans at the individual NFL team level and drive card applications.

Working with Draftfcb, Barclaycard ran a 2012 Super Bowl Facebook campaign using Pages and targeted Ads that served team-specific creative and offers (including 20,000 bonus points) and drove users to an application microsite. The campaign delivered superior results on Facebook: a 40% higher conversion rate than other platforms, 60% of approved applications from Facebook, and a 48% lower cost-per-acquisition; Barclaycard continues to maintain the NFL community Page.
