Philips worked with Expert Training Systems (ETS) to build a technical competency assessment programme after initially using ETS for a global 360 degree feedback platform. Philips wanted a way to help employees and managers identify the most relevant strengths, weaknesses, and development areas for each role, support individual development plans, and align skills with the company’s future-state business transformation goals.

Expert Training Systems designed the competency assessment process and hosted it on the existing ETS technology platform, creating a consistent experience with the 360 feedback tool. The solution included role-based competency profiles, manager and self-assessments, action-focused reporting, and manager importance ranking; it has been rolled out globally with over a 90% completion rate. Philips reports clearer role expectations, better development conversations, useful aggregate insights, and an overall increase in ratings of 0.15 across all three competency levels over the last three years.
