A Experian Case Study
The University of Connecticut Foundation, a tax‑exempt nonprofit managing more than $366 million to support UConn, faced a costly data-quality challenge: a 400,000–500,000 record database fed by manual entries and bulk imports produced many duplicates, frequent address changes (about 100,000 record modifications a year), and high rates of returned mail that missed donor opportunities and wasted postage.
The Foundation implemented QAS data verification integrated with its Millennium database—using QAS Pro for real-time call‑center address entry (typedown/autocomplete) and QAS Batch for back‑end cleansing, duplicate detection, DPV/LACS flagging and CASS certification. That strategy raised mail accuracy to 90%, delivered over $40,000 in annual mailing savings plus additional print and staff efficiencies, improved NCOA matches and donor reach, and required minimal training to deploy.
