The Colorado Department of Labor & Employment improves processes and database accuracy

The Colorado Department of Labor & Employment (CDLE) faced challenges enrolling claimants in state-funded programs because incomplete and inaccurate contact information led to returned mail, lengthy manual research by staff, and delayed benefits. Frequent entry errors—missing apartment numbers or street details—meant claimants often couldn’t be reached, slowing processing and wasting resources.

CDLE implemented Experian Data Quality real-time address verification in its call center and self-service web portal, plus backend batch cleansing to standardize records before import. The result: database accuracy improved by over 20 percentage points (from about 64% to over 84%), returned mail dropped from seven large postal bins to fewer than four small boxes annually, and claimant processing became faster and more efficient.
