Hattiesburg Clinic, Mississippi’s largest multispecialty clinic, needed to reduce claim denials and improve cash flow while coping with pandemic-driven staffing shortages and a shift to remote work. Their Financial Services team sought a clearinghouse that could integrate customized claim edits into Epic, meet or exceed Epic Financial Pulse benchmarks for primary denials, keep AR days at 42 or less, and speed secondary/tertiary claim processing — all while enabling HIPAA-compliant, digital workflows.
They implemented Experian Health’s ClaimSource with onsite and virtual training, building more than 90 custom edits and automated workflows that integrate electronic remittance into Epic and allow simultaneous secondary/tertiary follow-up. The result: faster cash flow, stable — and improved — AR days, a 6.1% primary denial rate that exceeds the benchmark, reduced manual intervention, and the ability for over half the team to work remotely while maintaining productivity.
