Jhaatka.org is a campaigning organisation that mobilizes citizens to hold leaders accountable on public issues. When a proposed six-lane steel flyover to the airport (Rs. 1,800 crore) threatened the city’s 800 oldest trees, Jhaatka.org needed to quickly mobilize public opposition; they turned to Exotel’s Missed Call Services and SMS capabilities to scale outreach rapidly.
Using Exotel’s platform, Jhaatka.org launched a missed-call campaign on 21 Sept 2016 (08033013169) so supporters could register simply by giving a missed call; the number was widely shared via SMS and WhatsApp. The Exotel-enabled campaign garnered over 100,000 supporters in about three days and has reached nearly 140,000 to date, with the majority signing on via missed calls — a clear, measurable boost in reach and engagement driven by Exotel.
