Walla Walla Foundry 3D-prints 608 patterns for The Embrace with ExOne

The customer, Walla Walla Foundry, was tasked with constructing "The Embrace," a massive bronze sculpture, but faced the challenge of the highly complex and lengthy traditional investment casting process. They partnered with vendor ExOne and utilized its VX1000 PMMA 3D printers to create the intricate casting patterns.

ExOne's binder jetting technology allowed Walla Walla Foundry to 3D print the sculpture's design digitally as 608 precise, high-detail PMMA patterns. This solution streamlined the investment casting process, enabling the foundry to efficiently produce the 19-ton bronze monument. The result was the successful creation of one of the largest sculptures ever made using 3D printing and investment casting.
