Reduce Labor for Customized Components

ideas2cycles, a custom bicycle frame builder, faced high labor demands and costly dedicated tooling because each bike design is unique. They partnered with ExOne to apply metal 3D printing (Binder Jetting) to produce their custom components.

ExOne used Binder Jetting to print bicycle lugs, brackets, dropouts and fork crowns directly from CAD models, eliminating tooling and weeks of manual work. The result: production time dropped from 3–4 weeks to 4 days and cost per assembly fell from $1,000 to $425, saving weeks of labor while delivering stainless steel/bronze-matrix parts in a range of sizes.
