Employer group identifies improvement with value based benefit design and member level interventions

Leading Self-Insured Employer Organization worked with EXL to address the Triple-Aim challenge of improving member health outcomes and care experiences while reducing costs. The employer wanted a better way to support value-based benefit design and identify where it could make smarter coverage decisions and target member interventions.

EXL Health implemented population health analytics using its EXLVANTAGETM data and analytics foundation, analyzing medical and pharmacy claims against benchmark data to identify high-risk members, low- and high-value care, and opportunities for V-BID plan design. The analysis found about 48% prevalence in targeted conditions versus a 39% benchmark, with those members driving 10% of total health spending, and EXL identified potential savings of about 15% through reduced unnecessary treatments, better care pathways, and more effective use of high-value services.
