A eSkill Case Study
Mission Federal Credit Union, a federally chartered credit union headquartered in San Diego, needed a reliable way to predict tenure and on-the-job performance for telephone consultants. With hiring success measured by 90-day and annual reviews (1–4 scale, 2 = threshold) and a 180-day benchmark for a “successful hire,” MFCU sought assessments that would identify candidates likely to perform once onboarded.
MFCU used eSkill/TalentBullseye assessments: a 25-question SkillsScore (Telephone Consultant Test) and a behavioral FitScore (including critical thinking). Thirty people were tested (5 existing employees, 25 candidates). Results showed SkillsScore strongly correlated with 90-day performance, FitScore strongly correlated with annual reviews, and cognitive scores were not predictive. Turnover for the group was 36%; early voluntary leavers averaged 119 days and 89% of them had high cognitive but low FitScores. Only 4% left for performance reasons, and all test subjects scored at least 70% on the skills test, demonstrating the assessments’ value in identifying ready-to-perform hires.
