Prince George’s County Screens Large Applicant Pools With Skills Testing

Prince George’s County, a large Maryland government employer, faced an influx of up to 700 applications per role and needed a faster, more reliable way to screen candidates for high-volume positions such as administrative aide, 911 dispatcher, and call taker. Using eSkill’s pre-hire testing platform, the county aimed to reduce huge applicant pools while still identifying qualified and genuinely interested candidates.

eSkill helped Prince George’s County move testing online, integrate it with NEOGOV, and customize exams—including a digitized latent fingerprint test and accessibility accommodations—while eliminating much of the cost and logistics of in-person testing. As a result, the county estimates eSkill has reduced candidate pools by at least 30%, saved time and testing resources, and improved the hiring process with real-time scoring and easier candidate review.
