Royal Bank of Scotland needed to train 4,000 new employees after acquiring NatWest and required complete, up-to-date process documentation and a sustainable knowledge repository to replace outdated paper manuals. To meet this challenge the bank engaged erwin, using erwin solutions to improve employee training and build a centralized corporate knowledge base.

erwin implemented a suite of 3-D flowcharts called online process diagrams (OPDs) and published them on the bank’s intranet as a scalable repository. The solution documented more than 5,000 processes with 9,300 diagrams, eliminated paper manuals, became available to 35,000 employees, was adopted by other divisions, and received recognition in business competitions.
