Rostelecom optimizes its content delivery network, benefiting both content providers and subscribers

Rostelecom, Russia’s largest national telecommunications operator, faced rapidly rising video consumption and growing OTT traffic across its nationwide network. To improve quality of experience for subscribers and reduce load on its backbone, Rostelecom worked with Ericsson to build a more efficient content delivery network (CDN) for video and other digital services.

Ericsson implemented a flexible, scalable, and universal CDN platform that can deliver any type of content over any type of network, managed through one system. The result was the creation of the world’s largest private CDN, with 1 TB per second of capacity across 28 regional sites, helping Rostelecom offer higher-quality delivery at lower cost while saving space and power.
