Case Study: Entel expands rural broadband coverage in Chile with Ericsson

A Ericsson Case Study

Preview of the Entel Case Study

A public-private initiative delivers mobile broadband coverage to Chile’s sparse rural population, increasing productivity and enhancing quality of life

Entel, Chile’s leading mobile operator, faced the challenge of extending affordable mobile broadband to the country’s sparse and hard-to-reach rural communities, where fixed-line coverage was limited. Working with Ericsson and the Government of Chile, Entel sought a commercially viable way to bring connectivity to remote areas and improve access to essential services.

Ericsson delivered an end-to-end mobile broadband network rollout, including civil works, integration, activation, 2G/3G/HSPA base stations, MINI-LINK microwave transmission, and core network infrastructure. The project connected over 90% of Chile’s rural population, improved access to education, health and governance services, and created new economic opportunities while helping boost productivity and GDP.
