City Council Achieves Document Security, Efficiency and Streamlined Workflow

Bristol City Council needed to break down information silos and improve citizen-facing services by digitizing vast volumes of paper records and automating document-driven processes. To do this the Council turned to Ephesoft, deploying Ephesoft Transact alongside Alfresco (with partners Zaizi and Alfresco) to capture, classify and extract metadata from incoming forms, meeting papers and other records.

Ephesoft’s solution automatically extracts metadata, splits and routes documents into Alfresco repositories and monitors email attachments for approval workflows, eliminating manual searches and splitting. The Council has scanned nearly one million pages for ten teams, cut approval cycle times from around two weeks to the same day in many cases, reduced physical storage and sped up retrieval — benefits the IT team is now rolling out to additional departments with Ephesoft.
