Case Study: Royal Bank of Scotland achieves £2.4M savings and data-driven energy & environmental management with IBM Envizi ESG Suite

A IBM Envizi ESG Suite Case Study

Preview of the Royal Bank of Scotland Case Study

NatWest (formerly Royal Bank of Scotland) adopts a data-driven approach to Energy and Environmental Management

Royal Bank of Scotland (NatWest) is a UK‑based multinational bank operating thousands of sites and sought a single, data‑driven approach to energy and environmental management to reduce consumption and costs, improve data quality and reporting accuracy, and better engage internal and external stakeholders. To meet these goals they adopted IBM Envizi ESG Suite, supported by an embedded EcoAct services team to replace spreadsheets and disparate systems with a unified analytics platform.

IBM Envizi ESG Suite underpinned EcoAct’s embedded services to consolidate energy, utility and sustainability data from over 5,000 locations in 57 countries, enabling centralized reporting, billing validation and proactive energy management. The program delivered measurable impact: £2.4 million in savings and cost avoidance in the first 11 months (including over £1.8 million from billing validation), at least £128,000 in additional energy savings beyond BAU, and a £402,500 reduction in compliance spend in 2017, while improving data quality, reporting consistency and stakeholder confidence.
