Nationwide Retailer, a chain specializing in convenience stores, travel services, fuel, and quick-service restaurants, was struggling with very high staff turnover—annual rates as high as 40% across more than 150 centers—after recommitting to service excellence. To improve hiring quality they engaged Employment Technologies and its EASy Simulation Virtual Customer screening process.

Employment Technologies ran a 4-month pilot comparing the retailer’s old hiring process with the EASy Simulation Virtual Customer across 1,235 hires at 54 centers. The Virtual Customer cut 30-day turnover from 21.5% to 9.7% and 120-day turnover from 39.2% to 19.2% (roughly a 50% reduction), and when extrapolated to 4,000 annual hires the improvement equates to about $2 million in annual turnover cost savings.
