Case Study: Starfsmennt achieves accessible, low-cost online training for Icelandic prison wardens with eloomi

Starfsmennt - Customer Case Study

Starfsmennt, the Educational Training Centre for public employees in Iceland, faced the 2018 challenge of converting traditional onsite prison warden training into an online format that could be accessed nationwide, anytime, without compromising quality. To meet this need they piloted an online program using the eloomi platform, targeting a diverse group of learners who previously traveled long distances for in-person courses.

Using eloomi, Starfsmennt developed six e-learning courses (reporting & security, crime & morality, laws & regulations, imprisonment, psychology, and computer systems) and supported teachers with workshops, an instruction booklet, and a dedicated contact person for technical help. The pilot enrolled 20 students in winter 2018 with graduation in May 2019 and delivered measurable benefits: successful completion of the program, significantly reduced travel and accommodation costs, improved access and flexibility for learners, enhanced digital skills, and a “very positive” outcome that Starfsmennt plans to scale—crediting eloomi for enabling the transition.
