Case Study: Lafarge Holcim achieves faster best-practice sharing and sparks innovation with Elium

A Elium Case Study

Preview of the Holcim Case Study

How Lafarge Holcim spurs innovation by stimulating the sharing of best practices

Holcim (Lafarge Holcim), a world leader in building materials, struggled with fragmented knowledge: over 600 legacy platforms, limited search in an IBM Domino database, and the need to capture and share thousands of best practices across languages and countries. To replace the siloed system and enable intuitive navigation, powerful search and multilingual support, Holcim selected the Elium knowledge platform (formerly Knowledge Plaza) to centralize and surface expertise for a global workforce.

Elium implemented a multilingual, tag-driven platform integrated with SSO and existing collaboration tools, migrating some 2,500 active best practices and enabling up to 35,500 potential users and communities of practice. The Elium deployment, supported by an enterprise communication campaign, improved individual and group performance, uncovered expert profiles, accelerated transfer of best practices, reduced implementation delays and helped identify local practices that could become group standards within four years.
