Lenovo A Unified View of Sales Across China through Log Analysis

Lenovo, a Fortune 500 hardware company, was struggling to scale log analytics on its MySQL database, which required a small BT/IT team to manage huge volumes of data from more than 200 million logs a day. This limited the company’s ability to launch new initiatives, including a program to study how customers interact with products in its 5,000 retail and partner stores across China. Elastic helped Lenovo move beyond the operational bottleneck with Elasticsearch.

Elastic implemented Elasticsearch to handle Lenovo’s massive log data and enable real-time analysis of in-store product demo activity. The result was a new metrics platform that provided business intelligence on customer behavior, product interest, and regional differences, helping Lenovo optimize store layouts and inventory. With Elastic, Lenovo gained the bandwidth to support analysis of over 400 million logs per day and turn previously unavailable data into actionable sales strategy insights.
