A EdgeVerve Case Study
Unionbank of the Philippines, a top‑ten Philippine bank with 111 branches and roughly 250,000 daily transactions, needed to replace its proprietary mainframe to become more responsive, accelerate innovation, and grow market share while lowering total cost of ownership. To achieve this it engaged EdgeVerve to migrate retail operations to the Finacle core banking solution and move off its legacy Systematics/mainframe platform.
EdgeVerve executed a “big‑bang” migration across all 111 branches in about 11 months, consolidating the general ledger, integrating channels (ATMs, internet banking, Megalink) and enabling browser‑based front‑office operations. The Finacle rollout supported 700 concurrent users, cut end‑of‑day processing to under three hours, handled heavy bill‑payment volumes (40% of daily transactions), and delivered measurable savings — a projected 15% reduction in overall TCO and an estimated 46% drop in hardware maintenance over five years — improving efficiency and time‑to‑market.
