IDBI Bank, a major Indian bank shifting its strategy from primarily corporate to consumer banking, faced a legacy core system (Kindle) that could not scale for rapid retail expansion, multi‑channel delivery or faster product launches. To achieve business agility and shorter time‑to‑market, IDBI chose EdgeVerve and its Finacle universal banking solution to replace the legacy platform.
EdgeVerve deployed Finacle on a high‑availability Unix architecture and integrated it with ATMs, telebanking, internet banking and treasury systems, completing the rollout bank‑wide in a record 5½ months. The EdgeVerve implementation cut end‑of‑day processing time by more than 80%, enabled much faster product rollouts (for example the same‑day "Welcome Kit"), and met all project timelines with no extensions, giving IDBI the scalability and multi‑channel capabilities it needed.
