India Post, the government postal service with a 150,000‑strong branch network (90% rural), faced a major modernization challenge: replace manual, paper‑based account ledgers and dozens of siloed systems to extend modern banking and digital services to the rural poor. To drive financial inclusion and centralize millions of accounts, India Post selected EdgeVerve (an Infosys subsidiary) to deliver a new core banking platform using the Finacle solution.

EdgeVerve implemented Finacle in India Post’s new Delhi data center, ran a large‑scale digitization program (10,000+ data entry operators via subcontractors and a vendor portal), and integrated support for micro‑ATMs and Aadhaar‑based transactions. The rollout reached 25,000+ post offices and migrated roughly 650–659 million accounts (550+ million customers), enabled online and mobile banking, supported rapid product launches, deployed ~1,000 ATMs and extensive micro‑ATM capability, and delivered operational gains (including a 25% drop in help‑desk tickets during Phase 2).
