How AssistEdge’s cognitive engine, Albie helped a global retail giant standardize their processes

Global Retail Giant, a member-based wholesale center with over $6B in annual revenue and 14,000 employees, struggled to automate procurement across 2,000 vendors and 60 warehouses. The client’s three-way matching (purchase order, invoice, delivery receipt) required manual quality, quantity and price checks, causing SLA failures, payment delays, errors and heavy reliance on a few domain experts. EdgeVerve was engaged to address these challenges using AssistEdge RPA powered by the Albie cognitive engine.

EdgeVerve implemented AssistEdge RPA with Albie’s computer vision, machine learning and advanced OCR to classify combined documents, extract data, and apply decision models; matched invoices were updated in SAP automatically while uncertain cases were routed to the Albie Decision Workbench. The project delivered 90%+ extraction accuracy, cut invoice processing time from 15 days to 3 days, reduced cost per invoice from $5 to $1 (an 80% cost reduction), saved 288 hours, produced a 9x increase in automation and raised human-free invoice processing to roughly 70%.
