Case Study: Hatton National Bank (HNB) achieves 58% ROI and an 11-month core banking rollout with EdgeVerve

A EdgeVerve Case Study

Preview of the Hatton National Bank (HNB) Case Study

HNB Partners with Infosys on Core Banking for Growth, Centralization, Efficiency and Streamlined Service

Hatton National Bank (HNB), one of Sri Lanka’s largest private banks, faced a fragmented, legacy core-banking landscape — multiple core systems connected by middleware, frequent transaction drops, nightly ATM downtime and reconciliation failures, and costly workarounds to support “anywhere banking.” To modernize and centralize operations HNB selected EdgeVerve and its Finacle suite as the vendor/product to replace the decentralized systems and address scalability, availability and operational inefficiencies.

EdgeVerve implemented Finacle core banking along with e‑banking, trade finance and treasury, completing rollout in about 11 months with a disciplined change-management and governance approach. The result was a single centralized core, elimination of reconciliation problems and nightly ATM outages, an 87.5% reduction in daily maintenance effort (from 644 to 80 man‑hours), branch expansion from 186 to 205 with only nominal headcount increase, and a reported 58% RoI within five quarters — demonstrating clear measurable impact from the EdgeVerve deployment.
