Federal Bank Ltd., a fast-growing private sector bank in India with roughly 4 million customers and an extensive branch and ATM network, needed to replace its rigid proprietary core banking system to support aggressive organic and inorganic growth. After a thorough selection process the bank chose EdgeVerve and its Finacle universal banking solution to modernize its retail core banking, improve multi-channel delivery, and enable faster product rollouts.
EdgeVerve implemented a centralized Finacle architecture, integrated 36 delivery channels (ATM, internet, mobile, RTGS/NEFT, bill pay, etc.), and completed migration across 546 branches in under a year—migrating 500+ branches in less than six months—with zero downtime during the cutover. The deployment delivered measurable results: 99% uptime, about 60% of customers reporting improved usefulness and convenience, faster time-to-market and consolidated MIS, Level 3+ disaster recovery, reduced support costs, and a projected increase to 4.6 million customers within 12 months.
