SDL, an award‑winning global customer experience management firm with 70 offices worldwide and 4,000 Exchange users, needed a robust load‑balancing solution when migrating to Exchange 2010 because Outlook connections moved to a Client Access Server (CAS) role that Microsoft recommends be load balanced for high availability. After evaluating options, SDL chose Edgenexus and its ALB‑X virtual appliance for its advanced features, ease of deployment, virtualization compatibility and strong technical support.

Edgenexus deployed four ALB‑X VAs across the UK, USA and Japan to load balance SDL’s CAS array, using jetPACK templates, traffic management and custom health checks to simplify configuration. The Edgenexus solution now supports 4,000 users with improved reliability, resilience and faster email access, reduced management overhead and optimized application performance, and SDL plans to extend Edgenexus to Lync and internal web systems.
