Leroy Merlin South Africa builds brand credibility and trust in a new market with guided-selling and deep learning recommendations

Leroy Merlin South Africa, part of the global home improvement retailer Leroy Merlin, was trying to build brand credibility and trust in a new market where its existing e-commerce approach was not resonating. Using Dynamic Yield’s AdaptML deep learning recommendations and personalization tools, the team needed a way to engage first-time and low-intent visitors who had no purchase history and were often bouncing before converting.

Dynamic Yield helped Leroy Merlin implement guided-selling banners, “Just for You” recommendation pages, filtered first-party product recommendations, PDP recommendation blocks, and exit-intent scratch-card offers. The impact was strong: 32% of total purchases and 17% of total revenue came from recommendations, 1 in 3 items purchased were recommendations, first-party product sales rose 30% in one week after the scratch card launch, and homepage direct revenue increased 9x.
