U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) needed a reliable way to validate employers using its web-based E-Verify system. Processing over 34 million cases a year, the agency lacked a formal method to verify employer identity, size, location and industry classification, leaving the system exposed to potential misuse and preventing accurate program reporting.

USCIS implemented the Web-based Validation Instrument for Business Enterprises (VIBE), integrating Dun & Bradstreet’s D-U-N-S® Number and commercial data via APIs to map and validate employers in real time. The solution provides verified company profiles and activity tracking, improving adjudications, enabling faster handling of exceptions and fraud detection, and delivering efficiency and reporting gains as the program has grown by more than 60,000 participating employers per year since 2014.
