Atlas Copco reduces supplier risk with Supplier Portfolio Manager from Dun & Bradstreet

Atlas Copco, a global industrial group with more than 44,000 employees, faced growing supplier-risk exposure as its supplier base approached 600 companies. The procurement team needed a faster, more scalable way to assess suppliers’ financial health and dependency risks than manually reviewing annual account summaries, which was time-consuming and left the company exposed to unknown supplier problems.

Atlas Copco implemented Dun & Bradstreet’s Supplier Portfolio Manager to integrate its supplier records with D&B’s global business database, delivering automated analyses of supplier financial health, company-dependence risk, and corporate linkages (“family provider” analysis). The tool saved significant time, enabled proactive conversations with at-risk vendors that often led to corrective action, clarified dependence-related risks, and revealed supplier groupings that helped Atlas Copco negotiate better terms and strengthen its supply strategy.
