Preview of the Steady Case Study

Steady builds personas with dscout’s 50-person longitudinal diary study

The customer, Steady, an income-building app, needed to develop foundational user personas to better understand its target audience in the gig economy. As a new researcher at the company, Jasmine Hentschel faced the challenge of recruiting a diverse participant pool for this longitudinal study without a clear screening criteria. Steady turned to the vendor, dscout, utilizing its dscout Recruit service to find participants and the dscout Diary platform to conduct the research.

Using dscout Diary, Steady ran a massive longitudinal study with 50 participants, capturing intimate, in-context moments about their financial lives. The solution provided rich, qualitative data that was used to develop user personas, journey maps, and ecosystem maps. The results were transformative for the company; leadership used the video insights in presentations and board meetings, the marketing team used them to reframe their story, and the research became a foundational resource for onboarding and feature prioritization, ultimately turning the quant-focused leadership into research advocates.
