A DocuWare Case Study
Sebald Cement, a family-owned German producer of lime, stone and cement founded in 1860 with about 100 employees, faced mounting paper archives in its administration that threatened filing capacity and hampered process transparency. The company sought a future-proof, integrable document management system that would digitize paper workflows, link to Microsoft Dynamics and Varial Finanzwesen, and run on their on‑premises infrastructure.
Working with a local partner, Sebald implemented DocuWare on‑premises with five scanners, automated indexing, electronic trays and standard interfaces to ERP and accounting so users can access documents from within business applications. Today 8,000–12,000 documents a month are processed digitally, approvals and reminders are transparent and faster, staff are freed from filing to focus on core tasks, and the company is preparing to extend the system to HR and other departments.
