Tillamook Bay Community College, a small accredited college on Oregon’s coast, used a $2.5M Title III grant and its Lean methodology to address slow, paper-bound processes and the need to share student and administrative information across departments. The college required an affordable, on‑premises document management system that would integrate with its Jenzabar student information system and be adaptable for functions from registration and advising to payroll.
TBCC implemented a customized DocuWare solution with staged training and a 12-week rollout, creating electronic filing cabinets, workflows and integrations while building an internal user group to support adoption. The result: they exceeded their five‑year digitization target in three years (a 332% improvement), saved about $40,000 by avoiding a separate tool, reduced weeks spent searching for records, and enabled faster, secure sharing of student and business documents across the college.
