Megatiendas is a Colombian supermarket chain with 27 stores, about 1,500 employees and roughly USD 160 million in sales. Facing more than 10,000 incoming invoices per month, the company initially digitized documents but still routed them on paper, causing lost or late invoices, missed cash discounts and opaque approval processes — a pain point made more urgent by new electronic-invoicing regulations.

Megatiendas expanded DocuWare into a hybrid on‑premises/cloud solution to automate invoice capture, indexing and approvals, and built some 30 additional workflows (HR, travel expenses, contracts with e‑signatures). The result: much faster, transparent processes, reliable early-payment discounts, effective remote work during the pandemic and a significant productivity gain that let the company grow without adding headcount.
