Mattress Manufacturer Rests Easy as Cash Flow Improves

Corsicana Bedding, a national mattress manufacturer founded in 1971 with three production plants, two distribution centers, 450 employees and products in over 4,000 retail locations, struggled to manage proof-of-delivery (COD) invoices from roughly 350 daily deliveries. Signed paper invoices were routed by drivers back to local centers and mailed to corporate, creating long delays in account reconciliation, slowing cash collections and hindering timely responses to customer questions and dispute resolution.

An Imagetek-implemented DocuWare solution now has each location scan and e-mail signed invoices to a watched folder, where AS/400-driven indexing places documents into a central electronic file cabinet accessible to authorized employees. The change automated workflows, cut document retrieval time by about 3–5 minutes per request, reduced mailing and filing costs, improved customer service and cash flow, and created a company-wide knowledge base that boosts productivity and job satisfaction.
