Marcon International, Inc., a Seattle–based marine vessel brokerage that provides valuation and consulting for buyers, sellers and charterers, needed a reliable way to manage extensive dossiers on some 17,000 active vessels (and 26,000 archived records) with a small team. The company faced the challenge of storing and quickly retrieving varied document types—specs, photos, drawings, surveys, certifications and emails—to support sales and marketing across global clients.

In 2017 Marcon deployed DocuWare on‑premises, migrating roughly 790,000 records and integrating with Outlook to automate capture of up to 50% of index fields. DocuWare’s drag‑and‑drop indexing, saved index settings, full‑text search and thumbnail previews let the three-person data team process 300–1,000 documents weekly, speed searches and make the system a primary tool for data storage and retrieval.
