A DocuWare Case Study
Lyonnaise des Eaux, part of the SUEZ group and the main partner for local water management in France, faced a time‑consuming records problem: plans, deeds and technical documents were stored in tubes and suspension files with incomplete indexing, forcing staff to rummage through basements to fulfill requests. A client request for complete documentation prompted the company to replace the paper archive with a document management system that would provide direct access and integrate with its APIC geographic information system.
The Mougins and Montargis centers chose DocuWare with partner CD‑DOC to digitize and centralize about 30,000 documents, link the DMS to APIC and deploy access across office PCs and laptops. Staff now retrieve plans and deeds with a click, three employees spend only 3–5 hours weekly archiving while some 90 users consult the archive, paper storage has been cut by 95%, construction costs and retrieval times have fallen, and customer service and employee productivity have significantly improved.
